According to Samudra Maldives, the Maldives is known for its white sand beaches, turquoise lagoons, and coral reefs, but there are also about 30 species of sharks living here.
These include scalloped hammerheads, tiger sharks, whale sharks, and gray reef sharks - it is not yet clear which species of shark appeared in the footage.
"Most sharks near Maldives are friendly, and incidents of shark attacks are rare. But encounters with Maldives tiger sharks and nurse sharks might turn deadly if precautions aren’t taken," experts say.
