Kazakhstanis warned about border closure with China
Tengrinews.kz - China is temporarily closing road checkpoints with Kazakhstan, the State Revenue Committee has announced.
Railway checkpoints at the border will continue to operate as usual.
"Due to the celebration of Kazakhstan’s Independence Day from December 16 to 17, the movement of people, vehicles, and goods through road checkpoints on the Kazakhstan-China border will be suspended," the statement reads.
The agency also advised transporters to consider weather conditions.
"The capacity of road checkpoints may decrease due to unfavorable weather conditions, particularly on the Kazakhstan-China border. In this region, reduced activity on the Chinese side is possible due to low temperatures and strong winds," the committee added.
Earlier, it was reported that Kazakh citizens can now cross the Chinese border on foot.
