Cyclone to bring snow and cold weather to Kazakhstan

Tengrinews.kz - Meteorologists have shared a forecast for the weather in Kazakhstan on December 19, 20, and 21.
Starting December 19, a cyclone will affect most of Kazakhstan, bringing snow, blizzards, and, in the south and southeast of the country, mixed precipitation (rain and snow), icy roads, low drifting snow, and gusty winds. Heavy snowfall is expected on December 19-20 in the northwest, north, and central regions, and on December 20 in the mountainous areas of the southeast.
By December 21, as a western anticyclone moves in, predominantly dry weather is expected in the western part of the country, while in the north, south, and central regions, temperatures are expected to drop. Foggy conditions are anticipated throughout the country.

"Nighttime temperature fluctuations are forecast as follows: in the west of the country, temperatures will range from -3°C to -13°C, dropping further to -5°C to -18°C. In the east, temperatures will vary between -10°C and -26°C, later rising to -7°C to -20°C. Across the rest of the country, temperatures are expected to decrease: in the northwest and north, to -10°C to -20°C; in central regions, to -13°C to -25°C; and in the south and southeast, to -7°C to -13°C, with mountain areas reaching -15°C to -18°C," the statement reads.

Earlier, forecasters clarified the weather forecast for winter 2024/2025 in Kazakhstan. It is noted that in general, the winter temperature regime is expected to be within the climatic norm with precipitation exceeding the long-term norm. However, periods with cessation of precipitation and abnormally low air temperatures are not excluded.
