Kazakhstan citizens were warned about dangerous children's toys

Tengrinews.kz - The Ministry of Healthcare's Committee of Sanitary and Epidemiological Control have warned Kazakhstan's citizens about potentially dangerous children's toys ahead of the New Year. The toys in question fail to meet the mandatory requirements of the Customs Union’s technical regulations on toy safety.
According to the committee, 97% of the toys were imported from China, while 3% came from Eurasian Economic Union countries. Most violations, 99.3%, were related to labeling requirements, while 0.7% were due to sensory quality issues.

"The committee urges consumers to exercise caution when purchasing toys. Always request a certificate of conformity to ensure the product's safety. Avoid buying toys from questionable vendors, and pay attention to labeling," the statement reads.

The Customs Union’s technical regulations on toy safety require the following information to be provided:

The name of the manufacturing country,
The minimum age of the child for whom the toy is intended, or a pictogram indicating the age,
The date of manufacture,
The main construction material.

All information must be presented in both the state language and Russian.

"When selecting toys, check the stability of the dye; edges should be smooth without chips or sharp parts. For soft toys, the fabric should be durable and resistant to shedding. Avoid toys with strong, unpleasant odors and refrain from choosing items with small parts, especially for children under three years old," the committee advised.
