Kazhydromet warned residents of Astana, Almaty, and 5 other cities

Tengrinews.kz - Kazhydromet meteorologists have warned residents of Astana, Almaty, and five other cities.

"On December 24, 2024, unfavorable meteorological conditions and air pollution are expected in the cities of Astana, Almaty, Aktobe, Balkhash, Pavlodar, at night in Kostanay, and during the day in Ust-Kamenogorsk," the report states.

Unfavorable weather conditions are a combination of short-term meteorological factors (calm weather, light wind, fog, inversion) that contribute to the accumulation of harmful (pollutant) substances in the near-ground atmospheric layer.
In Astana, on December 24, there will be variable cloudiness, light snow at night, and occasional fog. The southwest wind will be 1-6 meters per second. The temperature at night will be -12 to -14, and during the day, -6 to -8 degrees Celsius.
In Almaty, there will also be variable cloudiness with no precipitation. Occasional fog is expected. The northeast wind will blow at 2-7 meters per second. The temperature at night will be -9 to -11, and during the day, -2 to -4 degrees Celsius.
Earlier, forecasters clarified the weather forecast for winter 2024/2025 in Kazakhstan. It is noted that in general, the winter temperature regime is expected to be within the climatic norm with precipitation exceeding the long-term norm. However, periods with cessation of precipitation and abnormally low air temperatures are not excluded.
