Entire Baku airport pauses for a moment of silence
Tengrinews.kz - Heydar Aliyev International Airport paid tribute to the victims of the tragic J2-8243 flight crash on the Baku-Grozny route with a moment of silence.
A video posted on the airport's official Telegram channel shows people inside the terminal bowing their heads in respect, mourning, and condolence for those who lost their lives.
"The victims of the tragic incident on the Baku-Grozny J2-8243 flight were honored with a moment of silence at Heydar Aliyev International Airport. May they rest in peace," reads the video caption.
Azerbaijan Airlines also shared photos from a memorial set up at the airport. The images depict people bringing flowers to the memorial stand and paying their respects to the victims.
"We will never forget the beloved people we lost in the crash of the "Embraer-190" aircraft. This loss left a deep wound in the heart of an entire community. It reminds us to be more compassionate and connected to one another.
This is why the memorial stand installed at the southern entrance of Terminal 2 at Baku Airport carries such profound meaning. The stand is open to everyone, inviting visitors to share their prayers, memories, and respects from their hearts," the airline said in a statement.
December 26 has been declared a day of mourning in Azerbaijan to honor the numerous lives lost in the December 25 crash.
Earlier, residents of Mangystau expressed condolences to the families and loved ones of Azerbaijani citizens who lost their lives in the recent plane crash.
