Where to watch New Year's fireworks in Almaty

Tengrinews.kz - Almaty residents will be treated to a festive New Year’s fireworks display at midnight, according to the city akimat’s press service.

The spectacle, funded by sponsors, will take place at Astana Square, starting at 12:00 A.M. on January 1, 2025.

New Year 2025 in Almaty

This winter, Almaty has been transformed with around 300 vibrant installations featuring fairy-tale characters, along with 120 updated small architectural forms from last year. Additionally, 12 streets and avenues are adorned with 1,500 light decorations, including 350 refurbished brackets used in 2023. The Almaty Television Tower (formally the Koktobe TV Tower) will feature a festive multimedia display for residents and visitors.

Christmas trees in Almaty

As is tradition, the city’s main Christmas tree stands 25 meters tall on Abai Square, in front of the Republic Palace. Decorated with vibrant ornaments, bows, six kilometers of garlands, and eco-friendly materials, it’s a dazzling centerpiece for the celebrations.

Across the city, 80 additional Christmas trees have been set up in various districts.

Residents can also visit the ongoing New Year’s fair at Abai Square, open until January 5, 2025. The fair showcases handcrafted items, souvenirs, and holiday decorations.
