Kazakhstan and neighbors: Who gets the longest New Year holidays?

Tengrinews.kz - As the year's biggest celebration approaches, the duration of New Year holidays varies significantly among Central Asian countries and Kazakhstan's closest neighbors. Here's a look at how long each country will take a break this New Year.

In Kazakhstan, the holidays will last from January 1 to 4, thanks to the rescheduling of the January 3 workday to Sunday, January 5.

Russia

Russians will enjoy the longest New Year holidays—8 days in total, from January 1 to 8.

Residents of Kyrgyzstan will have a week-long break, from January 1 to 7.

Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan

In Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, the New Year holidays are shorter, lasting only two days—January 1 and 2. January 7 is not recognized as a public holiday in Azerbaijan.

Turkmenistan will celebrate the New Year with just one day off on January 1, with no additional holidays.
