Tokayev names the key events of 2025 and mentions Trump

Tengrinews.kz – President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev gave an extensive interview to the newspaper Turkistan. In the interview, Tokayev named the main events of 2025 and mentioned US President Donald Trump.
Summing up the past year, the President noted that 2025 was full of significant events and highlighted key achievements in the country’s socio-economic development.
At the same time, the Head of State drew attention to persisting challenges that require special focus from the authorities.

“First and foremost, this is the high level of inflation, which ‘eats up’ all efforts aimed at improving the well-being of our country’s citizens. This year, the Government and akims (governors) have plenty of work to do in terms of strengthening the socio-economic framework of the state,” Tokayev said.

According to the President, the key outcome of the year was the consolidation of the course toward reforms and further modernization of the country.

“And still, the main result of the year was the irreversibility of reforms. Kazakhstan has taken a big step forward on the path of modernization and has become a more civilized state. Society has strengthened its understanding of the exceptional importance of large-scale transformations for the well-being of future generations,” the President noted.

Separately, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev dwelt on global processes and their impact on the international agenda, mentioning Trump’s strategy.

“Under the pressure of President Trump’s ‘common-sense strategy,’ globalization is receding into the background. In Kazakhstan, we are also building a society of justice, legality, order, and hard work, which is critically important for the future of our state. In the year that has now begun, this work will continue with redoubled vigor, with a focus on long-term results,” Tokayev stated.
