Según ha anunciado Ferrari en sus redes sociales , Sainz será operado de apendicitis y su sustituto será Oliver Bearman : «Carlos Sainz ha sido diagnosticado con apendicitis y requerirá cirugía. A partir del FP3 y durante el resto de este fin de semana, será sustituido por el piloto reserva Oliver Bearman . Por lo tanto, Oliver no volverá a participar en esta ronda del Campeonato de F2. La familia Ferrari le desea a Carlos una pronta recuperación».
