Lady Captain’s Weekly News 2nd December 2024

That was a busy week, including two interclubs, plus the usual weekly competitions and the Members weekend competition. I managed to capture the above photo of Los Reales, the Estepona Mountain whilst out playing the course.

We really do have some spectacular views from our course. The numbers have gone down a bit with members returning to England or elsewhere for Christmas, although on Saturday we had 63 for our AM AM. Our best wishes go to Chris Harris for a speedy recovery after a nasty fall by the practice area. He is home safe and sound now with 5 stitches in his head and some nasty bruising. Get better soon Chris.

On a happier note, it was Andy Stanford’s 60th on Saturday. We all sang happy birthday on the Terrace – CONGRATULATIONS ANDY

Sally-Ann, Caroline, Andrea and Andrea had a lovely round behind the men.
Their scores were put into the federation with the men.

INTERCLUB COMPETITONS Wednesday 27th November Home match vs VILLA PADIERNA

We were hoping for a better result Unfortunately, on the day Villa Padierna were stronger – they brought their A Team who were amazing around our greens. The final result was 15.5 for 8.5 in favour of Villa Padierna. We had a delicious lunch so thank you to Mirko and his team.

Mixed Interclub vs LA CAÑADA – HomeFriday 29th November

This was such a tight match. The away we were down 6.5 to 17.5 and the home match up by 17 to 7 !!! losing by 0.5 unbelievable. It was a great day and so close. The trophy has gone back to La Cañada.

These were the last Interclubs of 2024. Big thank you goes to Agi Savitz our Captain. New year, new team colours. We are all looking forward to doing battle for Agi next year!!

COURSE MAINTENANCE

Monday: A light tining and topdressing on greens.
Tuesday & Wednesday: Fertilizing on all Bermuda grass.
Thursday: Spraying greens for nematodes.

Many of us are off to London next week so I am sure we will be doing our World Series this Thursday instead of the following. Tracey as always is very accommodating with us!!

Svetlana will be in charge for next week’s Tuesday and Thursday competitions.

We are all looking forward to our wreath making workshop on Wednesday – Christmas is fast approaching, and the decorations are going up everywhere.
