Arrow McLaren signs up Lundgaard for 2025 IndyCar campaign

Arrow McLaren has announced that Christian Lundgaard will join Pato O’Ward and Nolan Siegel in the team’s three-car lineup for 2025 in the NTT IndyCar Series.

Lundgaard, who currently races for Rahal letterman Lanigan, will replace former Indy 500 winner Alexander Rossi and will form with his future team mates the youngest trio on the IndyCar grid.

The 22-year-old made his IndyCar debut in 2022 with RLL and became in 2023 the first Danish driver to win in the series, a feat accomplished on the streets of Toronto.

Lundgaard, a former member of the Alpine Driver Academy, honed his racing skills in the FIA F3 and F2 championships before reorienting his professional career in America.

“I’m excited to have my plans set for 2025 and beyond, and I’m thrilled it’s with Arrow McLaren,” commented Lundgaard.

“I have a lot of respect for Zak, Gavin, Tony and the team, and I think Pato, Nolan and I will work well together.

“I’m focused 100% on finishing this season strong with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing. We have a lot of the season left, but this is a huge weight off my shoulders that will hopefully let me compete at my best the next nine races.”

Arrow McLaren’s decision to part ways with Rossi and hire Lundgaard is the latest event in the team’s game of musical chairs involving its driver line-up.

Rossi, who has delivered just two podiums to Arrow McLaren in the past two seasons did not specify where he would move next but suggested that “good news” was on its way.

“My time at Arrow McLaren, while it’s been only short two seasons, has been rewarding in many ways,” he said.

“I’m grateful to have been part of the team’s internal growth. The No. 7 crew is fantastic, and I’ve built a lot of long-lasting friendships with the team.

“Zak, Gavin, Tony and I had many conversations over the last several months on my future with the team. We were not able to come to terms on a new deal, so the mutual decision to part ways is amicable.

“I’m very confident with current discussions in the paddock to land a new spot. I’ll have good news to follow soon, and meanwhile I’m focused on a top-five finish in the 2024 championship and a strong conclusion to my time in papaya.”
