Aston Martin has confirmed that Enrico Cardile, Ferrari’s former chassis technical director, will join the British outfit from 2025 as its new Chief Technical officer.

Cardile’s move from Maranello to Silverstone had been anticipated for several months, but the Scuderia officially announced the Italian engineer’s exit on Monday.

Aston says it has created the new role of CTO to further strengthen its senior technical group, adding that Cardile – a key pillar of Ferrari’s technical team – will bring a wealth of experience to the team.

“I would like to welcome Enrico to Aston Martin Aramco as we look to reinforce the technical leadership team ahead of significant regulation changes in 2026,” commented Aston Martin F1 executive chairman Lawrence Stroll.

“I am thrilled that we continue to attract world-class talent to our team. Enrico shares my motivation to be successful in F1 and will have all the resources available to him to realise that ambition.

“Together with Andy Cowell joining as Group CEO in October and our existing leaders we are creating a formidable team.”

As Aston Martin’s technical director, Dan Fallows currently leads the F1 team’s engineering department.

However, Cardile’s appointment above the Briton could create a complex dynamic, and it remains to be seen how the two men will work together or weather the Italian’s presence will put pressure on Fallows.

“I’m looking forward to joining Aston Martin Aramco,” said Cardile. “The ambition and desire are clear and it is a unique opportunity to be part of that journey.

“This is a personal and professional challenge and I look forward to working with the team to bring success to this iconic brand.”

Aston Martin team principal Mike Krack added: “I am delighted to welcome Enrico to Aston Martin Aramco. Enrico has nearly 20 years of experience at Ferrari and will offer a fresh perspective to our technical strategy.

“This is a key appointment for the team as we build towards the new 2026 regulations – an important next step on our journey.”
