Passenger plane crashes in Nepal: Pilot the only survivor

Tengrinews.kz - A Saurya Airlines passenger plane crashed during takeoff in Kathmandu on July 24.

According to Kathmandupost portal, there were 19 people on board, including crew members.

It is reported that the aircraft rolled off the runway on takeoff.

Witnesses said the aircraft was taking off from the southern end of the runway and suddenly flipped over, hitting the ground with the wing tip. The aircraft then immediately caught fire and crashed into a ravine on the east side of the runway, between the Buddha Air hangar and the radar station.

So far, 18 bodies have been found at the crash site, the pilot survived and was taken to hospital. His condition and injuries sustained in the crash have not been reported.

Police and firefighters are carrying out rescue work at the crash site.
