Individuals with dual citizenship discovered in East Kazakhstan
Tengrinews.kz - Police identified 48 individuals with dual citizenship in the East Kazakhstan region, nine of whom were expelled from the country by court order.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan, the migration service of the regional police department regularly conducts checks to identify individuals residing in the region with dual citizenship.
For example, a 59-year-old resident of Ust-Kamenogorsk became a citizen of a neighboring country in May 2021 but failed to report this to law enforcement authorities within the legally established timeframe.
"The foreigner's identity card and passport of a citizen of the Republic of Kazakhstan were confiscated, and the loss of his Kazakhstani citizenship was also registered. For violating the law, the man paid a fine of 738,400 tenge," explained Rinat Shkiabaev, head of the Migration Police Department of East Kazakhstan.
The agency reminded that dual citizenship is not permitted in Kazakhstan and urged residents of the region to comply with the law.
Earlier, migration service officers deported a resident of the Borodulikha district in the Abai region for holding dual citizenship.
