Kazakhstan’s population reaches over 20 million
Tengrinews.kz – Kazakhstan’s population reached 20,223,218 as of October 1, according to recent data from the Bureau of National Statistics. This marks an increase of nearly 190,000 since the start of the year.
Kazakhstan is home to three cities with populations exceeding one million: Almaty (2,275,541), Astana (1,502,102), and Shymkent (1,246,661). Additionally, the Turkestan (2,153,616), Almaty (1,551,350), Zhambyl (1,222,973), and Karaganda (1,134,257) regions each report populations over one million.
Urban residents make up the majority, totaling 12,704,977, while 7,518,241 people live in rural areas.
