Two more cows have died from anthrax in Atyrau

Tengrinews.kz - Two cows have died from anthrax in Atyrau. In total, three cases of animal deaths from this infection have been registered at the slaughterhouse of the "AsylAgro" farm (the livestock market), according to Atyrau Online.
According to Deputy Akim of the region, Zhasulan Bisembiev, 80 percent of the cattle slaughtered in Atyrau come from the West Kazakhstan Oblast (WKO).

"Recently, two more cows died. Two of them were brought from WKO, and one cow was from the Kurmangazy district. Most likely, it contracted the disease at the slaughterhouse. Complete disinfection has been carried out in the quarantine zone. All animals have been revaccinated. The healthy ones have been relocated to a clean zone. Ten people are working at the site, including specialists from Aktobe, all of them are equipped with personal protective equipment. The quarantine at this slaughterhouse will last until mid-December," reported Zhasulan Bisembiev.

At the end of October, a cow arrived at the "AsylAgro" farm, which, according to regulations, was placed in quarantine in a separate holding pen. On November 12, the animal died. Specialists then took samples to test for possible infections. On November 15, experts confirmed that, based on preliminary results, the cow showed signs of anthrax.
The slaughterhouse was closed, a quarantine was imposed on the market area, disinfection was carried out, and the animals were vaccinated.
Doctors monitored 17 people who had contact with the infected animal. One of the workers at the local market was diagnosed with the cutaneous form of the disease.
