'Flying gazebo' – akimat explains the cause of the incident
Tengrinews.kz – In early November, strong winds in Astana damaged several structures, including blowing away an entire gazebo from the courtyard of a residential complex. The akimat (city administration) explained the cause of the incident.
It was reported that the structure could not remain in place due to the strong wind.
"There were no injuries. The contractor attempted to secure the gazebo, but due to corrosion of the metal elements, proper restoration was not possible. Therefore, it was decided to dismantle it," the city administration stated in response to a Tengrinews.kz inquiry.
When asked what measures the city administration is taking to protect residents during strong winds, the government body provided the following response:
"The local executive authority implements comprehensive measures to ensure the safety of citizens during strong winds and to prevent accidents caused by falling banners, tiles, and construction cranes. Regular inspections are conducted for all bus stop complexes, external structures, and landscaping elements, including banners and advertising structures, to identify deficiencies and non-compliance," the response stated.
To recall, on November 6, hurricane-force winds swept through Astana, toppling structures, uprooting trees, and damaging cars and playgrounds.
