Kazakhstani wunderkind wins tennis “World Championship“ in USA

Tengrinews.kz - Kazakhstani tennis player Amir Omarkhanov wins ITF Juniors J500 Orange Bowl Doubles.
In the final, the 17-year-old Kazakhstani in a duet with Timofei Derepasko beat the Swiss pair Henry Bernet/Denis Petak with a score of 3:6, 6:1, 10:1.

"The Orange Bowl is held annually in Plantation (Florida, USA). The tournament is considered an unofficial world championship among juniors. The matches are held on open courts, the surface is green clay," the Tennis Federation of Kazakhstan reports.

The 16-year-old Kazakhstani was seriously talked about as a future tennis star after the junior Grand Slam tournament Australian Open in early 2024. Then Omarkhanov sensationally knocked out the leader of the world ranking in his age category and reached the quarterfinals.
Amir was born in Karaganda on November 17, 2007, and started playing tennis there. Since the age of 10, he has been winning national championships in his age group, and already in 2021, he began to reach the international level.
In April 2024, Omarkhanov made his debut on the adult ATP tour, receiving a Wild Card for the Masters Series tournament in Madrid and earning his first serious prize money. Next year, the Kazakhstani will again compete in the main draw of the Junior Australian Open.
