Tokayev names the main goal of Kazakhstan’s foreign policy
Tengrinews.kz – President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated that Kazakhstan’s foreign policy is subordinated to the task of ensuring the country’s territorial integrity, security, and sovereignty. He also emphasized the importance of strengthening national unity and called for finally shedding the mentality of a nation that has not overcome its historical traumas.
According to the Head of State, Kazakhstan is a responsible middle power and the largest country by territory in the Islamic world.
“We stand on the side of common sense and justice and will always be guided by this policy. All our foreign policy actions are subordinated to a single goal – ensuring the territorial integrity, security, and sovereignty of Kazakhstan.
For me, as the Head of the Kazakh state, Independence is above all!” Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said during his speech at the National Qurultai in Kyzylorda.
He stressed that this is not an anniversary slogan, but the fundamental principle of the national strategy in this turbulent world.
In the President’s view, Independence is, above all, nationwide unity and harmony.
“It is important for us to strengthen the cohesion of the people, to show strategic restraint and wisdom, while clearly keeping in mind the main goal – building a prosperous, respected, and strong state.
I have said before and I want to remind you again: we must finally get rid of the psychology and mentality of a nation that has not overcome its historical traumas. To blame other peoples for our misfortunes, to engage in endless discussions and conversations about our bitter fate – this is a relic of the past. The whole world is changing — it is time for us to change as well,” he said.
In conclusion, the President stressed that our nation is young and must move forward in step with the times.
