Tokayev to visit the United States at Trump’s invitation
Tengrinews.kz – President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev will pay a working visit to the United States at the invitation of US President Donald Trump, the Akorda press service reported.
On February 18–19, 2026, Tokayev is expected to travel to Washington to take part in the inaugural meeting of the Peace Council.
“Key attention during the summit is expected to focus on stabilizing the situation in the Gaza Strip, as well as developing practical steps to ensure peace, security and sustainable humanitarian support in the region,” the Akorda press service said.
During the visit, Tokayev is also scheduled to hold a number of meetings with the heads of major American companies.
Earlier, on January 22, Tokayev arrived in Davos to attend the signing ceremony of the Peace Council charter, established at the initiative of President Donald Trump. Kazakhstan was invited to become one of the founding states, and Tokayev was among the first leaders to receive an official invitation to join the Council on Gaza.
Leaders and representatives from 18 countries took part in the charter signing ceremony in Davos.
According to Washington’s vision, the Peace Council will be responsible for strategic oversight, mobilizing international resources and monitoring commitments related to Gaza’s peaceful development.
The founding executive board will consist of seven members — described by the White House as leaders with experience in diplomacy, development, infrastructure and economic strategy. Each member will oversee a separate area considered critical for stabilizing Gaza.
In addition, a Gaza executive board will be formed to supervise the activities of the new government in the enclave. The body will include 11 members, four of whom will also serve on the founding executive board.
Earlier, Trump described the new body as “the greatest and most prestigious council ever assembled at any time and in any place”.
