Tokayev proposes establishing a special award named after Trump

Tengrinews.kz – President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev delivered a speech at the inaugural meeting of the Peace Council in Washington, according to Akorda.
The Head of State noted that the sustainable development of the Middle East requires new mechanisms aimed at promoting peace, expanding cooperation, and strengthening trust in the region.

“Guided by this conviction, Kazakhstan has decided to join the Abraham Accords, thereby contributing to pragmatic economic and humanitarian cooperation in the region and beyond. These principles fully correspond to the noble mission of the Peace Council,” Tokayev said.

In addition, Tokayev reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s readiness to provide practical support, including by hosting meetings of various levels and formats in our country.
In his speech, the President of Kazakhstan proposed establishing a new award under the auspices of the Peace Council:

“I would also like to propose the establishment, under the aegis of the Peace Council, of a special award bearing the name of President Trump, in recognition of his outstanding achievements in advancing peace. I am convinced that, under your strong and forward-looking leadership, the Council will successfully fulfil its noble mission,” the President of Kazakhstan concluded.

It should be recalled that the meeting of the Peace Council is being held at the Donald Trump Institute of Peace in Washington.

The President of Kazakhstan arrived in Washington on 19 February. As part of this visit, he will hold a number of meetings with foreign leaders as well as with US officials.
Earlier, on January 22, Tokayev arrived in Davos to attend the signing ceremony of the Peace Council charter, established at the initiative of President Donald Trump. Kazakhstan was invited to become one of the founding states, and Tokayev was among the first leaders to receive an official invitation to join the Council on Gaza.

According to Washington’s vision, the Peace Council will be responsible for strategic oversight, mobilizing international resources and monitoring commitments related to Gaza’s peaceful development.
The founding executive board will consist of seven members — described by the White House as leaders with experience in diplomacy, development, infrastructure and economic strategy. Each member will oversee a separate area considered critical for stabilizing Gaza.
In addition, a Gaza executive board will be formed to supervise the activities of the new government in the enclave. The body will include 11 members, four of whom will also serve on the founding executive board.
