Blizzard, ice: storm warning issued for almost all of Kazakhstan

Tengrinews.kz – Meteorologists are warning Kazakhstanis about changing weather conditions on 23 February in almost all of Kazakhstan, citing Kazhydromet.

Astana — Occasional snow, blizzard and ice are expected. North-westerly wind, at times with gusts of 15–20 m/s.

Almaty — Fog is expected at night and in the morning.

Shymkent — Fog is expected at night and in the morning.

Zhetysu region — In the east, centre and mountainous areas of the region, fog is expected at times. South-westerly wind; during the day in the north, south and east of the region gusts of 15–20 m/s, in the area of the Alakol lakes at times 23–28 m/s.

Akmola region — Snow, blizzard and ice are expected; at night in the north and east of the region, heavy snow at times. Fog is expected in the west, north and east of the region. North-westerly wind with night-time gusts of 15–20 m/s; during the day in the north, south and east of the region gusts of 15–20 m/s. Kokshetau — Snow and blizzard are expected; at night heavy snow at times. North-westerly wind with night-time gusts of 15–20 m/s.

Almaty region — At night and in the morning in the south and in the mountainous areas of the region, fog is expected. South-easterly wind shifting to north-westerly; during the day in the north, south and mountainous areas of the region gusts of 15–20 m/s. Konaev — Fog is expected at night and in the morning. South-easterly wind shifting to north-westerly, with daytime gusts of 15–20 m/s.

Aktobe region — Fog is expected in the north and west of the region. Aktobe — Fog is expected at night and in the morning.

Pavlodar region — Snow and blizzard are expected; in the west and south of the region, heavy snow. Fog in the north of the region. Abai region — Southerly wind shifting to north-westerly; at night in the west, north and centre of the region 15–20 m/s with gusts of 23–28 m/s, during the day 15–20 m/s, in the north, south and centre 23–28 m/s, at times with gusts of 30 m/s and more.Semey — Snow and blizzard are expected. Karaganda region — At night in the west, north and east of the region snow and blizzard are expected; during the day in the north and east snow and blizzard. Kostanay region — At night in the north, east and south of Kostanay region snow and blizzard are expected. Fog in the west, north and east of the region. North-westerly wind at night in the north and east of the region 15–20 m/s.

North Kazakhstan region — At night snow and blizzard are expected; during the day in the east of the region snow and blizzard. Fog is expected in the west of the region. Northerly, north-easterly wind at night 15–20 m/s, during the day in the east of the region gusts of 15–20 m/s. Petropavlovsk — At night snow and blizzard are expected.
