Political scientist: Azerbaijan takes processes taking place in  Armenia very seriously

ArmInfo.Azerbaijan takes the processes taking place in Armenia very seriously. Baku saw something  in them that couldn't help but bother it. Both Turkiye and Azerbaijan are beginning to understand that the environment that has prevailed in the country for the last 3.5 years has already changed. This  opinion was expressed in a video interview with Analitika.ua by the famous Armenian political scientist Manvel Sargsyan.

In this regard, Sargsyan recalled that in the statement of the  Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry following the meeting of the heads of  the foreign affairs departments of the two states in Almaty, there is  not a word about the principles of the Alma-Ata Declaration, which is  what Pashinyan is talking about. The main statement on this issue was  made by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Shushi, who stated that  there would be no principles for regulating bilateral relations, and  everything would proceed on the basis of Baku's demands. "What is  happening today in Tavush (delimitation) is being done at the demand  of Azerbaijan, and everything that happens after will also be carried  out on the basis of demands from the neighboring state," the  political scientist expressed confidence.

Thus, among the broad public masses of Armenia, the belief that the  words of the authorities completely contradict the deeds is  deepening, and this is already a problem affecting the national  dignity, which leads to the growth of public dissatisfaction and  rebellious spirit. "In fact, people took to the streets with  indignation, and the intrigue of this indignation was the demand for  Pashinyan's resignation. But, according to the analyst, the  organizers of the movement in the person of Archbishop Bagrat Srpazan  made a big mistake by announcing consultations with the parliamentary  opposition, whose power was completely and irrevocably rejected by  the people six years ago. Therefore, turning to the opposition  parliamentary forces turned out to be the wrong step, which actually  reduced the degree of tension.

The political scientist considered the talk about the opposition's  appointment of a person who could, as a result of public pressure,  become the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, frivolous.  Manvel Sargsyan recalled that in 2018, a critical mass of people led  by Nikol Pashinyan simply forced the factions of the National  Assembly of the Republic of Armenia to elect him as head of the  Cabinet. "Then this decision was clear and unambiguous for everyone,  it was logical, as a result of which the oligarchic system was forced  to elect Pashinyan as prime minister. But the current opposition  movement does not have this logic," he noted.

According to Sargsyan, it would be much more fair if the  parliamentary opposition resigned its mandate and began to demand  early parliamentary elections. "It would be logical, but it did not  do so and this would prove that there is no question of power  struggle," he said.
