YEREVAN, 17 June. /ARKA/. The Yerevan Municipality is likely to postpone the introduction of a unified ticketing system in the Armenian capital's public transport, Deputy Mayor Suren Grigoryan said at a working meeting on Monday./pp

In this regard, Mayor Tigran Avinian explained that the introduction of the unified ticketing system depends on the import of new buses, which are supposedly expected in September or October this year./pp

If there is a problem related to the extension of the deadline (for the introduction of the unified ticketing system), this issue should be brought to the discussion of the Council of Elders so that our promise is clearly fulfilled, Avinian said./pp

Grigoryan said in response that the issue has already been put up for discussion./pp

According to him, 171 new 8.5-metre-long buses and 15 trolleybuses are due to arrive in late October or early November this year. Nevertheless, we continue to work with suppliers to bring these deadlines closer, Grigoryan said./pp

A pilot project to introduce a unified ticketing system for public transport was implemented in September 2023. Special equipment (terminals for selling tickets by QR code) was installed in buses, trolleybuses and metro. -0-/p
