U.S. Department of States presents position on Armenia`s possible withdrawal from CSTO
ArmInfo. The US State Department presented Washington's position on Armenia's possible withdrawal from the CSTO.
"This is for the Armenian government to decide, and we respect that. We have seen nothing to indicate that Russia's military presence is helping to make the South Caucasus a more peaceful and stable region," the State Department noted in response to a request from the Voice of America Armenian service.
On June 13, the Prime Minister of Armenia from the rostrum of parliament announced the country's intention to leave the CSTO. He did not provide exact dates, noting that Yerevan will do this when it considers it appropriate. Earlier, Yerevan announced the freeze of membership in the CSTO and stopped paying membership fees to the Organization.
