Referendum on land swap possible - Nikol Pashinyan

ArmInfo. Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan does not exclude the possibility of holding a referendum if Armenia and Azerbaijan decide to exchange territories. He stated this during a meeting with residents of the village of Shinuair in the Syunik region of the republic.

"There was an unscheduled stop in Shinuair, where we talked with residents about real Armenia and the process of delimitation and demarcation of borders," wrote the head of the Armenian Cabinet, sharing details of the conversation with local residents on Facebook.

Pashinyan emphasized that the Armenian authorities can initiate a referendum if the issue of territory exchange arises during the process of delimiting the border with Azerbaijan. "A situation may arise when it will be possible to give 100 sq. m here and get 100 sq. m there. In this case, we will not decide anything. It will be necessary to hold a referendum, you will decide," the RA Prime Minister said.

At the same time, Pashinyan noted that in the process of delimitation and demarcation we are not talking about a new border with Azerbaijan, the borders of Soviet times are being restored. The Prime Minister once again assured that the Armenian authorities will not concede a single meter of their own territory.
