Jaguar Shifts Gears: Final F-TYPE Marks Electric Future

Jaguar celebrates its rich sporting heritage and embarks on a new electric chapter as the final Jaguar F-TYPE rolls off the production line at Castle Bromwich, 50 years to the day since the last E-type left the factory.

A Legacy Carried Forward

This final F-TYPE, a 5.0-liter V8 Convertible finished in Giola Green with a black roof and Tan Windsor leather interior, mirrors the iconic 5.3-liter V12 final E-type Series III Convertible built in 1974. It will be entrusted to the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust (JDHT), joining its E-type predecessor in the official collection and participating in special events throughout the year.

The near-simultaneous conclusion of both the F-TYPE and E-type’s production marks a turning point for Jaguar. Similar to how the last E-type paved the way for the revolutionary XJ-S, the final F-TYPE signifies the brand’s bold transformation towards an all-electric future. Leading this charge will be a four-door electric GT, set to be unveiled in 2025.

A Commitment to the Future

“The vision of our founder, Sir William Lyons, was to be future-focused, relevant, and original,” said Rawdon Glover, Managing Director, Jaguar. “This has been the cornerstone of Jaguar for nearly a century.”

“Today, as we celebrate the F-TYPE and our 75-year legacy of innovative sports cars, we also look forward to a new era,” Glover continued. “We’re committed to elevating the brand with a focus on electric vehicles that are uniquely expressive and defined by pioneering technologies and visionary design.”

A Storied Past

Launched in 2013 as a convertible, the F-TYPE marked Jaguar’s return to the two-seat sports car segment after nearly four decades. It garnered widespread acclaim, being named the 2013 World Car Design of the Year. The coupe version followed a year later.

Over 87,731 F-TYPEs have been produced, with the model remaining available for purchase until early 2025. The JDHT records show that Jaguar produced 72,528 E-types, concluding with a special run of 50 cars, all but one finished in black.

Both the final F-TYPE and E-TYPE will reside at the JDHT in Gaydon alongside the last series XE, XF, and XF Sportbrake, which also recently ceased production.
