YEREVAN, July 3. /ARKA/. Armenia needs to push the technical aspect of its European integration ambitions, that is, to diversify its economy and energy security, Arman Yeghoyan, the Chairman of Armenia’s parliamentary Committee on European Integration, stated on Wednesday./pp

As of now, Armenia is extremely dependent on natural gas, and its priority should be seeking alternatives to this fuel in order to strengthen its energy security, Yeghoyan stressed./pp

Many people falsely think that the notions of “European integration” and “EU membership” are somewhat similar or even identical, he said./pp “Being a member of the European Union is just one of the stages of European integration. This process is a political dialogue, and we will need to bring our public governance in compliance with certain standards. The Armenia-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement is very helpful in this regard,” Yeghoyan said./pp

He also mentioned that while Armenia's political integration with Europe is progressing rapidly, the technical integration is lagging behind./p br
