Hyundai Prepares Fronx Fighter: New Bayon-Based Crossover Coming in 2026

Hyundai is gearing up to challenge the Maruti Fronx and Toyota Taisor with a brand-new crossover set for a 2026 launch. Codenamed Bc4i, this upcoming vehicle will share its platform with the i20 and draw inspiration from the Bayon, a Hyundai model sold in international markets.

Targeted Competitiveness

Sources reveal that the Bc4i crossover is under development and utilizes the new-generation i20 platform. However, to compete effectively in the Indian market, Hyundai will launch a second-generation version of the Bayon specifically designed to rival established players like the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Toyota Taisor, and Tata Nexon.

Positioned for Success

The new crossover will share components with the i20, ensuring a familiar feel for existing Hyundai customers. In terms of product placement, it will slot in alongside the Venue, offering a more stylish option while remaining positioned below the Creta in Hyundai’s SUV lineup. The engine options are also expected to be carried over from the Venue.

Production and Price Strategy

Hyundai is likely to manufacture the new crossover at its Sriperumbudur plant, while the upcoming second-generation Venue will roll off the production line at the recently acquired Talegaon facility. The high level of parts sharing between the i20 and the Bayon should allow Hyundai to price the new crossover competitively. This strategy is likely to mirror the pricing difference between the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and the Fronx, offering a compelling alternative to the existing Venue with a fresh design language.
