Armenia increases electricity production by 3% in first five months of 2024

YEREVAN, July 10. /ARKA/. Armenia produced 3,876.8 million kWh of electricity from January to May 2024, a 3% increase compared to the same period in 2023, according to data published by the country’s National Statistics Committee on Wednesday./pp

The largest share of electricity production, 36.1%, was generated by the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant (ANPP), which produced 1,397.7 million kWh, marking an 8.6% increase. Thermal power plants (TPPs) contributed 32% of the total with 1,240.7 million kWh, a decrease of 18.6%, while hydroelectric power plants (HPPs) produced 888.7 million kWh, representing 22.9% of the total and a 31.2% increase./pp

Solar power plants, accounting for 9% of the total, generated 349.0 million kWh, up 26.4%, and wind power plants, with a 0.02% share, produced 0.7 million kWh, down 38.6%./p br
