Bologna reportedly interested in signing Matip on a free transfer to bolster defence

The Rossoblù club is currently seeking a replacement for Riccardo Calafiori, who is set to join Arsenal.

The German defender has been identified as a strong candidate to fill the void left by Calafiori’s impending departure.

Bologna’s management believes that Matip’s experience and skill set make him an ideal fit for their defensive line-up.

“Matip has the qualities we are looking for in a defender,” said a Bologna insider, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
