Three men arrested for trespassing, assault at Sisian military base

YEREVAN, July 11. /ARKA/. Three civilians were arrested for trespassing, armed hooliganism, and assault at a military base in Armenia’s Sisian, the country’s Investigative Committee reported on Thursday./pp

On July 7, a group of civilians, disregarding the prohibition and demands of guards at the checkpoint, unlawfully entered an unnamed military base to resolve an issue concerning their relative, a conscripted soldier./pp

Upon exiting the base at the guards' demand, the civilians had an altercation with a battalion officer and a contract soldier in front of the gates, subsequently attacking and beating them. One of the assailants fired a gas pistol into the air./pp

As a result of these actions, the three residents of Sisian were charged under several articles of the Armenian Criminal Code and were arrested./p
