No territories surrendered - Head of RA Cadaster
ArmInfo. When and to what extent did the compilers of the maps make a mistake, on the basis of which "erroneous" certificates of land ownership were issued in the Kirants area of the Tavush region and at what point did this become known?
This was the question asked by Hayastan faction deputy Artur Khachatryan on July 11 in the National Assembly during the presentation of a package of bills on introducing additions to the law "On geodetic and cartographic activities" and amendments to related laws.
The head of the Cadastre Committee, Suren Tovmasyan, refrained from commenting on the issue of the scale of the "inaccuracy" of the scale, since this fact was revealed during the delimitation. But he assured that "the territories were not surrendered to the Turks."
The opposition and, in particular, the Tavush in the Name of the Motherland movement accuse the RA authorities of unilateral concessions and the surrender of strategically important territories of the country. Thus, according to the protocol-description of the commission on delimitation and demarcation of borders, in the area of the village of Kirants, Tavush region of the Republic of Armenia, two houses, a bridge, a section of the interstate road to Georgia and about 50 land plots go to Azerbaijan.
As opposition deputies stated, residents of Kirants are being forced to abandon the cadastral certificates issued to them under the law of the Republic of Armenia in favor of Azerbaijan.
On May 20, the RA Ministry of Justice stated that cadastral certificates for real estate were issued to residents of the Tavush village of Kirants in the past by mistake. The department responded to a recent interview with constitutional law expert Vardan Poghosyan given to one of the media. In it, Poghosyan, as an argument in favor of the illegality of eviction of villagers from their homes as part of border delimitation, stated that the villagers have cadastral certificates, which means these territories belong to the Republic of Armenia.
