CA Activists Shield Child Predators, Again.

California activists oppose a bill that would make selling a CHILD for sex a felony.

SB1414, a bipartisan authored bill out of California aims to upgrade buying or selling a minor for sex from its current status as a misdemeanor to a felony. 

 

As of now, prostituting a child in California is punishable by mandatory minimum imprisonment of 2 days in county jail and a possible punishment of up to one year in jail and a $10,000 fine.

 

SB 1414 seeks to upgrade the misdemeanor to a felony and the punishment up to a possible four years in state prison and a fine of $25,000. 

 

Even after amendments were made, activists are still opposing the bill and their reason is telling!

 

They believe the harsher penalties outlined in the bill would disproportionately hurt members of the LGBTQ community!

 

What kind of excuse is that?!

 

Predators and pedophiles should not get a pass, their gender identity be damned!
