Shraddha Kapoor's Stree 2 vs Akshay Kumar's Khel Khel Mein box office clash: Horror-comedy's Producer says, 'Jo jeeta wohi sikandar'
Released on Thursday, the Stree 2 trailer has garnered a remarkable response. The horror-comedy is a sequel to the 2018 superhit movie, Stree. Directed by Amar Kaushik, the film stars Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Aparshakti Khurana. Initially, the release date for the film was August 30, 2024. However, it will now hit theatres on August 15. Rajkummar and Shraddha's movie will clash with two films, Vedaa and Khel Khel Mein. Khel Khel Mein stars Akshay Kumar and Taapsee Pannu in the lead roles. On the other hand, Vedaa stars John Abraham, Sharvari, and Tamannaah Bhatia. On Thursday, the Stree 2 team was present in Mumbai for a grand trailer launch. During the event, the film's producer, Jyoti Deshpande, fielded questions about the conflict between their film and Akshay and John's movies.
According to IANS, during the trailer launch, the Stree 2 producer stated that there are only 52 weeks in a year. They don't release movies during Hindu rituals, IPL, Ramdan, or if some Khan is releasing or a big South Indian film is releasing. So that leaves them with only 20 weeks. Jyoti said it's survival of the fittest, the jungle law. Furthermore, Jyoti said that they're super confident about their movie and come with a feeling of Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar.
Meanwhile, Stree 2 is the fourth movie in Maddock Films' horror-comedy universe. So far, Maddock Films has released three films: Stree (2018), Bhediya (2022), which stars Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon, and Munjya (2024), which stars Abhay Varma and Sharvari. Amar Kaushik has also directed Bhediya, and its sequel is all set to release in 2025.

The 'Sarkata', aka headless man, who is responsible for Stree's death is back to haunt the villagers.
