The highly anticipated Tata Curvv and its electric sibling, the Curvv EV, have finally been revealed in their production-ready forms. Following a series of teasers, Tata Motors is all set to launch the all-new Curvv on August 7th, adhering to their multi-powertrain strategy. The electric version will be the first to hit the market, followed by its internal combustion engine (ICE) counterpart.

Curvv: A First for the Masses

The Tata Curvv marks a significant development – it’s the first mass-market SUV-coupe, strategically positioned within the popular compact SUV segment. Further details regarding the interior, features, and exact powertrain specifications are expected to be released soon.

Curvv Production Version: Evolution from Concept

As anticipated, the production Curvv features some subtle changes from the concept car. The EV’s exterior cameras have been replaced with traditional mirrors, the daytime running lamps no longer extend into the bonnet, and the split rear spoiler has transformed into a single, smaller unit.

Distinctive Designs for ICE and EV Versions

While both the ICE and EV Curvv share a connected LED DRL setup and an all-LED headlight configuration on the bumper, their front fasciae showcase distinct personalities. The Curvv ICE sports a blacked-out grille, while the EV features a body-colored closed-off panel in its place.

On the sides, both versions boast aerodynamically styled alloy wheels and a first for Tata – flush-type door handles. The rear concludes with a connected LED tail light setup for both models.

Subtle Electric Touches

Despite their overall design similarities, the Curvv EV incorporates some electric-specific styling cues. These include a closed-off grille, tweaked bumpers on both ends and aerodynamically designed alloy wheels.

Standing Out from the Nexon Crowd

The Curvv’s rear design takes a clear departure from the Nexon. It boasts a significantly longer body and a sloping coupe roofline. The wheel arches are squarish, with the ICE variant sporting petal-like 5-spoke alloy wheels and the EV featuring a more closed-off design for improved aerodynamic efficiency. Both models come equipped with pop-out flush door handles and prominent black cladding on the lower body.

Shared Features and Safety Focus

Both the EV and ICE versions are expected to offer a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, ventilated front seats, and a panoramic sunroof. Safety features are likely to include six airbags, a 360-degree camera with a blind view monitor, electronic stability control, and a comprehensive suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

Launch, Pricing, and Competition

Tata will kick things off by announcing the starting price for the Curvv EV, which is estimated to be around Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom). The ICE version is expected to start from Rs 10.50 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Curvv EV will compete with the likes of the MG ZS EV and the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV, while the Curvv ICE will go head-to-head with the Citroen Basalt.
