Read the transcript below of the exchange that Mauro and Benson had regarding the change in tune of the FBI:

Paul Mauro: [00:01:59] And all of a sudden about an hour ago I got a hard “we’ve been shut down by the FBI.” I was told that earlier in the day by the state police. And this is the first place this is coming out. Guy, I haven’t said this on the air yet, but I just got from a couple of sources here, a very strong “no”, the FBI wants nothing going out and we can’t talk to you.

Guy Benson: [00:02:22] Wow. And is that in your mind good practice by the FBI trying to get a hold on this thing? Or is this, like a stand down, shut down orders so we don’t learn more?

Paul Mauro: [00:02:38] Feels like the latter to me. And I’m going to explain why. If the FBI or the Secret Service were giving regular briefings and keeping the American public informed as to what appears to have happened to a person who had been the president, and who very well may be the next president, I’d be a lot more sympathetic to the idea that they don’t want all kinds of information flying all over the place, but we’ve been nothing but responsible. And what we’ve been reporting, and really, it’s been a reaction to the fact that the Secret Service almost immediately began to leaks against the, “locals” on X and had their spokesperson doing that. And that’s not the way to go with this stuff either. They have yet to give a press conference. The service was not present at the press conference that did take place the night of the event. We all know by now that Cheatle, Director Cheatle was in Aspen in the middle of a national security event that only occurs every four years to give a speech at the Aspen Security Conference. There’s a lot here to be answered, for they won’t answer for it. And they’ve just told everybody else that they were involved in, you’re not to answer for it either.
