Sunny Deol reveals an emotional scene from Border with on-screen soldiers was deleted, 'Whenever I read it, I cried'

The 1997 movie Border is cited as one of the best patriotic movies. Directed by JP Dutta, the film stars Sunny Deol, Suniel Shetty, Akshaye Khanna, Jackie Shroff, and many others. The story unfolds during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971, drawing inspiration from the events of the Battle of Longewala in that same year. 27 years after its release, Sunny Deol has made an intriguing revelation about the movie. In an interview, the Gadar 2 star revealed that the movie had a deleted scene at the end. While talking to Ranveer Brar in a now-deleted interview, Deol shared the details about the scene and how it made him emotional.

Sunny Deol revealed that at the end of the Border movie, he goes to a temple where there's a light burning. When he approaches it, he sees all the soldiers who sacrificed their lives sitting there. Sunny's character, Major Kuldip Singh Chandpuri, tells each of them that he has fulfilled the wishes or tasks they wanted to. The Darr actor said, "I tell them that the roof of your house has been repaired. You don't worry; everything that you wanted has been done. The world in which you are in that heaven, there is no war there."

Sunny Deol further revealed that whenever he used to read that scene, he used to cry. He called it a lovely scene. A clip from the interview has gone viral on Instagram. Fans in the comments expressed their desire for Border 2 to incorporate the scene. One person wrote, "Firse aaye border 2 aur ye seen se picture ki survat ho". Another fan commented, "RERELEASE this movie WITH THIS SCENE!!!!"

Meanwhile, in June, Sunny Deol announced that he would be working with Border 2, and would be helmed by Anurag Singh. The actor shared an announcement video and captioned it, "Ek fauji apne 27 saal purane waade ko pura karne, aa raha hai phirse. India's biggest war film, #Border2. Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta & Nidhi Dutta will be directed by Anurag Singh." It is not known who else will star with Sunny in the film.

The actor also has Rajkumar Santoshi's Lahore 1947 in the pipeline. Produced by Aamir Khan, the film also stars Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, Ali Fazal, and Karan Deol.
