When Ranbir Kapoor said he feels bad when compared with Salman Khan or Shah Rukh Khan

Ranbir Kapoor was once asked his thoughts on being compared with the Khans of Bollywood and the actor said he feels bad when it happens.

Ranbir Kapoor made his Bollywood debut in the year 2007 with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Saawariya. Also starring Sonam Kapoor, the movie didn't get as good a response as expected. However, Ranbir impressed everyone with his performance. In his 17-year career, RK has delivered several phenomenal performances. When he made his debut, many people predicted that he would become the next superstar in India. There were comparisons drawn between him and the three Khans: Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Aamir Khan.

In 2013, PTI asked Ranbir Kapoor about these comparisons in an interview. By that time, the actor had proven his talent in a number of films, including Bachna Ae Haseeno, Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, Rocket Singh, Wake Up Sid, Rajneeti, Barfi, Rockstar, and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. So it was natural for people to expect him to become as big as Khans in his career.

However, the Tamasha actor was not comfortable with the comparisons to the Khans of Bollywood. Ranbir told the news agency that he is not in the film industry to beat anyone. He wants to do good work, make a name for himself, and earn respect. RK stated that he doesn't believe in the term 'next superstar', as it means you are not one, but you can become one. Ranbir told the media agency that they could come after him once he achieved superstar status.

Regarding the comparisons with Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Salman Khan, the actor expressed his disappointment, stating that he feels bad because they have worked hard in the industry for more than 25 years. Ranbir mentioned how the Khans receive so much love and respect from everyone, even though he had only been in Bollywood for five years at the time. The Sanju star said that he can answer the question after he completes 25 years in the film industry. Ranbir also added that he doesn't have a personality like Salman Khan or Shah Rukh Khan; he can be himself, and the film will be a huge hit. To generate a good response, Kapoor must play a good character.
