Yerevan, Tehran sign arms supply agreement

ArmInfo. Yerevan and Tehran  have signed a major arms supply agreement worth $500 million. This  was reported by Iran International, citing a senior military official  in the Middle East.

According to the source, this agreement includes the supply of  various types of weapons and military equipment to strengthen  Armenia's defense capabilities. The agreement also provides for joint  production and maintenance of weapons.

In particular, we are talking about the Shahid 136, Shahid 129,  Shahid 197 and Mohajer drones. Also, based on this agreement, the  Islamic Republic of Iran will provide Armenia with the Som Khordad  and Majid missile defense systems, 15 Khordad and Arman missile  defense systems.

According to an informed source of Iran International, the defense  cooperation agreement, consisting of several contracts between the  Islamic Republic and Armenia, is not limited to sending drones and  air defense systems, but includes cooperation in intelligence, close  military ties, training, and the construction of bases in Armenia.

"No report on this arms deal between Tehran and Yerevan has been  published before. The defense and foreign ministries of the Islamic  Republic and Armenia have not responded to Iran International's  questions about this contract," the Source notes.

After this news appeared in the Armenian segment of social networks,  a number of Telegram channels affiliated with the Armenian  authorities began to refute it, calling it disinformation.

At the time of publication of the material, ArmInfo was unable to  obtain confirmation or denial of this report from the Armenian  Defense Ministry. We will add that it was previously reported that  Armenia has become one of the largest buyers of Indian weapons.  According to a report distributed by the Indian news agency IADN, the  total volume of weapons purchases by Armenia from India in the  2024-2025 financial year reached $600 million.
