In Armenia, students will be granted a deferment from compulsory military service once, but for the entire period of study
ArmInfo. Students receiving primary or secondary specialized education in Armenia or in foreign countries will be granted a deferment from compulsory military service by the RA government once, but for the entire period of study.
As stated in the explanatory note to the document, the law "On Military Service and the Status of Servicemen" currently provides for a deferment from compulsory military service for citizens studying in the Republic of Armenia or foreign countries, without interruption, in programs of primary (vocational) or secondary vocational education based on basic education. Up to 19 years, a deferment is granted by a decision of the Ministry of Defense, and after attaining 19 years - by decrees of the Government of the Republic of Armenia. As a result of such regulation, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports carries out dual administration.
