The 2024 World Ducati Week witnessed the unveiling of a motorcycle that promises to redefine the superbike segment: the Ducati Panigale V4. This isn’t just a facelift; it’s a complete overhaul that draws inspiration from Ducati’s racing pedigree and the iconic 916, while simultaneously addressing the challenges posed by its rivals.

A Design Revolution

The design is a radical departure from its predecessor. Sharper, sleeker, and more aggressive, the new Panigale V4 exudes a predatory stance. The front fascia, featuring updated LED headlights, retains the signature ‘V’ shape but with a less intimidating aura. New aerodynamic wings, now painted red, accentuate the bike’s aggressive profile. The fairing, devoid of the beloved ‘gill’ patterns, houses a larger windscreen.

Refined Aerodynamics and Ergonomics

At the rear, aerodynamic bodywork and an updated split LED tail lamp complete the sleek look. A significant departure from previous models is the adoption of a double-sided swingarm, a decision justified by Ducati’s focus on weight reduction and rigidity.

Ergonomics have been meticulously refined to complement the aerodynamic enhancements and improve overall control. A wider and longer seat offers increased freedom of movement and superior support during braking and cornering. The footrests are now positioned closer together, optimizing aerodynamics and ground clearance. Additionally, the fuel tank’s curvature facilitates a better knee grip during deceleration and cornering.

Power and Performance

Powering the new Panigale V4 is an updated 1,103cc Stradale V4 engine, delivering an impressive 213 horsepower and a torque figure of 120.9 nm. Key enhancements include a revised cooling system, higher-lift camshafts, and Euro5+ compliance. Mated to a six-speed gearbox with a quick shifter, this potent engine promises exhilarating performance.

Enhanced Chassis and Suspension

The chassis benefits from substantial upgrades as well. The Panigale V4 S sheds two kilograms compared to its predecessor while gaining a half horsepower, thanks to technological advancements. Showa BPF forks and a Sachs monoshock, both fully adjustable, handle suspension duties. Braking performance is entrusted to Brembo Hypure monobloc calipers gripping 330mm front discs, complemented by a repositioned 245mm rear disc with a MotoGP-inspired underslung Brembo caliper.

Cutting-Edge Electronics

A massive 6.9-inch TFT instrument cluster provides access to a comprehensive suite of electronic rider aids, including cornering ABS, multiple ride modes, wheelie control, slide control, engine brake control, and the new Race eCBS. This advanced electronics package aims to elevate the riding experience for both amateurs and professionals.

India Launch and Expectations

The Ducati Panigale V4 is poised to create a substantial impact in the Indian market, with both standard and S trims expected to be launched towards the end of the year. Priced between Rs 28 lakh and Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom), this Italian masterpiece is set to captivate the hearts of performance enthusiasts.
