RA Deputy Ministers of Education, Science, Culture and Sports and representatives of ADB discuss the implementation of the "School Seismic Protection Program"

Education, Science, Culture and Sports (MoESCS) of Armenia received today a delegation of the Asian Development Bank led by ADB Resident Representative in Armenia Don Lambert.

As reported by the press service of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia, during the meeting, issues related to  "School Seismic Protection Program" implemented with the support of the ADB were discussed. Stressing that construction of schools is one of the strategic objectives of the Armenian government, the Deputy Minister Araksia Svajyan noted the long-term effective cooperation with the Asian Development Bank in this area. "We expect that our schools will have an environment and infrastructure not only providing favorable and modern conditions for effective educational process, but also ensuring high safety standards," said Araksia Svajyan. 

According to her, the requirements and standards defined by the "School Seismic Protection Program" are considered benchmarks for institutions built within the framework of other programs, taking into account the high quality requirements of ADB program.  In turn, the Director of the ADB Resident Mission in Armenia thanked for the cooperation, emphasizing that the "School Seismic Protection Program" is one of the most important projects implemented by the Asian Development Bank in Armenia. During the meeting, a number of other issues of bilateral interest were discussed as well.
