BMW Motorrad is set to expand its electric vehicle (EV) portfolio in India with the launch of the CE 02 electric scooter. Expected to debut during the upcoming festive season, the CE 02 will position itself as a more affordable option than the recently launched CE 04.

A product of the successful TVS-BMW partnership, the CE 02 is not only manufactured by TVS in Hosur but also co-developed on a platform shared between the two companies. This marks a significant step forward for both brands in the Indian electric two-wheeler segment.

Unlike its larger sibling, the CE 04, which is imported as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) from Berlin, the CE 02 will benefit from local production. This is expected to result in a more competitive price point. BMW aims to establish the CE series as a premium electric brand, appealing to a new customer base while contributing to sustainable mobility.

Equipped with a 2kWh battery pack, the CE 02 offers riders a choice between a single or dual battery setup. This translates to a range of 90km and a top speed of 95kmph with the dual battery configuration, or 45km and 45kmph with the single battery option. The scooter is designed to blend modern aesthetics with advanced technology, promising a premium ownership experience.

While the exact launch date and pricing for the CE 02 in India are yet to be confirmed, it is anticipated to be around Rs 3.5 lakh to Rs 4.5 lakh, significantly higher than the TVS X Electric. BMW’s strong brand reputation and the growing demand for premium electric two-wheelers suggest a promising outlook for the CE 02 in the Indian market.
