Cyprus supports Armenia in negotiations with Azerbaijan

YEREVAN, July 30. /ARKA/. The Republic of Cyprus supports Armenia’s approach to the normalization with Azerbaijan, the country’s Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos said during a joint press conference with his Armenian counterpart Ararat Mirzoyan in Cypriot capital Nicosia on Monday./pp “We welcome the position that the Armenian government has adopted. I want to state the very simple principle: diplomatic discussion, dialogue is the only way of resolving any kind of dispute. At the same time, coercive tactics cannot be dictating how the dialogue is being conducted,” he said./pp
Kombos also stated that Cyprus welcomes the Armenia-EUnbsp;rapprochement and expressed his government support to the recent developments in the relations between Yerevan and Brussels, including the visa liberalization dialogue. The Cypriot Foreign Minister assured his Armenian counterpart that his country would support the strengthening of ties between Armenia and the EU./pp
The Foreign Minister of Cyprus also thanked Yerevan for its strong stand on the Cyprus issue and stated that the expected opening of embassies both in Yerevan and Nicosia would bring countries even closer in the near future./p br br
