Widespread violations found at nearly all construction sites in Yerevan, municipality reports

YEREVAN, July 31. /ARKA/. In the Armenian capital, 248 high-rise buildings are currently under construction, and violations were identified at almost all of the construction sites, Deputy Head of the Environmental Protection Department of Yerevan Municipality Ruben Khojoyan stated on Wednesday.

During a press conference, Khojoyan reported that 534 administrative protocols related to air pollution on construction sites had been issued in the first six months of 2024. He noted that almost all developers were fined.

According to the data presented by Khojoyan, 147 violations were related to the absence of special dust-collecting nets at construction sites, and 78 to the lack of air quality measurement devices.

The fines for these violations range from 70,000 to 100,000 drams. There have also been cases of repeated violations by the same developer, which led to increased fines.

Another deputy head of the department, Gorik Avetisyan, mentioned that the municipality has installed 60 devices for monitoring air quality. In case of violations, our specialists go to the construction site and take appropriate measures, he said.
