Azerbaijan sets new terms to Yerevan

ArmInfo. Azerbaijan will not sign a peace treaty until the Constitution of Armenia is amended and a transport corridor through the Syunik region of the Republic of Armenia is provided. This was stated by the special representative of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev Elchin Amirbekov in his speech at the online seminar of the American Hudson Institute.

The Azerbaijani official admitted that there is significant progress in the peace talks with Armenia, but "the only obstacle is Armenia's territorial claims" against Azerbaijan, which are contained in the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia.

He also noted that the opening of the so-called "Zangezur corridor" will help strengthen trust between Armenia and Azerbaijan and change the rules of the game in the region.

"For us, if we talk about a lasting, stable peace, the opening of the Zangezur transport link is one of the immediate results of the establishment of peace, which can benefit not only Azerbaijan, but also Armenia, since Armenia is isolated and deprived of the opportunity to participate in economic projects in the South Caucasus," he said, thus once again proving that Azerbaijan's demands on Armenia are increasing with each new concession by Yerevan, and the series of unilateral concessions has no end.
