MG Motor India is set to expand its electric vehicle lineup with the introduction of the Cloud EV, which will be rebranded as the MG Windsor for the Indian market. The crossover, already popular in international markets under the Wuling banner, is poised to make waves in the domestic EV segment.

Recent teasers from MG have ignited speculation about the upcoming model’s features and design. While the automaker has been cryptic, a trademark filing for the name “Windsor EV” confirms the official moniker for the Indian market. The grand reveal is scheduled for August 5th.

Drawing inspiration from its global counterpart, the Windsor EV is expected to showcase a sleek, futuristic design characterized by connected LED DRLs and a closed-off grille. The headlights are distinctively positioned below the DRLs.

Battery options and charging capabilities for the India-spec Windsor EV are yet to be officially disclosed. However, considering the international model’s offerings of 37.9 kWh and 50.6 kWh battery packs with corresponding ranges, we can anticipate competitive figures aligned with Indian driving conditions and ARAI testing standards. Fast charging is expected to be a key feature.

Positioned as a Compact Utility Vehicle (CUV), the Windsor EV is expected to be priced lower than the MG ZS EV and directly compete with the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV400.
