The Court of Appeal upheld the verdict of Narek Malyan

ArmInfo. The Court of Appeal decided to leave the verdict  from the first instance court unchanged after considering complaints from both the defense and prosecution in the case of political prisoner Narek Malyan. This information was shared by Malyan's lawyer, Ruben Melikyan, on his Facebook page.  The lawyer recalled that Malyan, the leader of the opposition movement "Veto", was illegally sentenced to one year in prison for inciting hatred against the ruling party "Civil Contract". Malyan has been in prison for 11 months. He refused to admit his guilt and openly opposed the authorities from prison in every possible way.

The defense argues that there is no criminal intent in Malyan's actions, while the prosecutor's office insists on a sentence of 3 years and 3 months. Melikyan said that the decision of the Court of Appeal will be appealed to the Court of Cassation. "Regardless of the outcome of the appeal, Narek Malyan will be released on September 20, 2024", the lawyer wrote.
